The mystery of Halloween combined with the magic of Swan Lake!
Perfect for people who love Halloween and love Swan Lake, this production combines a festive modern day Halloween party in the royal castle with the classic beauty of the traditional Swan Lake. Complete with an evil magician that flies, all ages will love it.
Artistic Director Kim Tuttle has pulled out all the stops for this season opener. The massive sets, drops and props were designed and executed by Justine Anderson, Catherine Bloomfield, Paul Costanza, Carlos Asse, Margaret Tolbert, Jim Kasserman, Thomas Aycock and Ulises Daza. Costumes by Kim Tuttle, Nancy Spencer, Soili Arvola and Linda Rocha. Truly an army of designers and artists to make this unusual ballet come alive!
ACT I is a Halloween Party in the royal castle complete with a King and Queen danced by Carla Amancio and Fhilipe Teixeira, a gangster danced by Andre Valladon, a ring master danced by new member of DANB Roberto Vega, a voodoo doll danced by Buse Babadag and a mambo girl danced by Yaima Mendez, both new to the Company. Add in a prince performed by Walter Angelini, his cousin danced by Alexsey Kuznetsov, Yulia Pivotskaya as a black swan, Julia Ponomareva as a Greek goddess, a flapper girl danced by Inez Albertini and flock of ghost waitresses and you have a full castle! Choreographed by Artistic Director Kim Tuttle, Act I is truly a twist on the familiar tale!
ACT II takes us back in time to the Swan Lake ballet lovers know well. DANB brought in
noted ballerina Soli Arvola to stage this act, bringing authenticity to this exquisite work. Principal dancer Yulia Pivotskaya will dance ‘Black Swan’ with Julia Ponomareva ‘White Swan’. Van Rothbart will be danced and, in an usual twist, flown by Andre Valladon.
