COSTUME FRIENDLY ! October 31, 2014 7:30 PM
Curtis M Phillips Center for the Performing Arts
In this lushly romantic ballet based on the forward to the exotic ‘1001 Nights, midnights trysts, shahs and slaves, mystery and moonlight abound. As the story goes, the Shah’s beautiful wife Zobeide is found in the arms of the Golden Slave. The enraged Shah demands their execution. From their dramatic deaths the lovely Scheherazade rises like a silken phoenix to marry the distrustful Shah. She tells him wondrous tales for 1001 nights during which time he comes to trust her. Together they rule the land with wisdom and compassion.
Who says vampires have to be dark and mysterious! What if your vampire is a gorgeous blonde whose sidekick is a crazy Brazilian man? Where a ditzy Cuban vamps in her red apron and hands her boss a really Bloody Mary! With loads of fun and a few nibbles along the way the leggy Vampyra leads us down a campy road to her private ghoul-land.
After the show dance the night away at Vampyra’s Masquerade Ball
