DANCE ALIVE NATIONAL BALLET NAMED RESIDENT BALLET COMPANY OF THE REILLY ARTS CENTER (500 NE 9th Street, Ocala, Florida)
(Gainesville, FL) Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) is delighted to announce that it has officially signed a three year contract as the Resident Professional Ballet Company for the Reilly Arts Center in Ocala, Florida. The Reilly Arts Center is a newly renovated historic art deco venue providing over 700 seats located in Ocala’s historic Tuscawilla Park, a hub for performing and visual arts in Ocala. The Reilly Center will be the home for the Ocala Symphony Orchestra (OSO), now in its 40th year. The Orchestra will open the Reilly Arts Center with a multi-media performance October 23rd. DANB follows with its first performance at the Reilly Arts Center, A HAUNTED SWAN LAKE, October 25th. (DANB Executive/Artistic Director Kim Tuttle and Ocala Symphony Orchestra Music Director/Conductor Matthew Wardell have worked together for a number years and are excited about future collaborations.)
Future DANB performances at the Reilly Arts Center include NUTCRACKER, December 15th, a joint performance with OSO January 16th and another March 25th. DANB will also partner with the Reilly Center and OCO in fund raising activities. Tickets are available on the Reilly Art Center website.
DANB, OSO and the Reilly Center will also present a summer program workshop looking at emerging choreographers and composers presenting their works at the Reilly Center. Discussions are on-going between OSO Music Director, DANB Executive Artistic Director and RAC. Dates and more details TBA.
Built in the 1930’s, the Reilly retains much of the architectural features including its original bow trusses and the original balcony, discovered when the 1980’s acoustic ceiling was removed. The facility offers a mainstage auditorium and an outdoor stage in addition the reception rooms and an art-deco lobby with the usual amenities. Funding for the renovation, $2.8 million, was raised in a three year period. OSO Executive Director Pamela Calero proudly announced that “we’ve stayed on budget and, more importantly, we’ve stayed on time”. DANB Executive/Artistic Director Kim Tuttle is delighted with DANB’s selection as Resident Ballet Company of the Reilly Arts Center and stated, “We are very pleased to be selected as the resident ballet company for the Reilly and are truly excited about the opportunities our collaboration with the Reilly Center and Ocala Symphony Orchestra presents. It is always a joy to work with people like the board of the Reilly and OSO Music Director & Conductor Matthew Wardell who have both vision and passion for the arts”.
