Beatriz Povoas

Beatriz Póvoas is a Brazilian principal dancer currently based in the United States with Dance Alive National Ballet in Gainesville, Florida. She received her classical ballet training in Rio de Janeiro at Ballet Marcia Sampaio, where she built a strong technical and artistic foundation that led her to an international career. Her work has been recognized at major international competitions and festivals, including the Tanzolymp Dance Festival in Berlin, where she was an award recipient; the Prix de Lausanne selection in Córdoba, Argentina, where she was a finalist; and the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Brazil. In Brazil, she was honored with Best Dancer awards at the Três Rios Dance Festival, the Cabo Frio National Dance Festival, and the Rio das Ostras Dance Festival. In 2013, Beatriz joined the Dalal Achcar Youth Company, the youth company of the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, and later that year was invited to join Companhia de Dança SESI Minas in Belo Horizonte. In 2016, she was hired by Dance Alive National Ballet, where she has since risen to the rank of Principal Dancer. Her repertoire includes leading roles in major classical and neoclassical works such as The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy), Swan Lake (Little Swans, Tarantella), Harlequinade Grand Pas de Deux, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, Flames of Paris, and Esmeralda. In 2025, Beatriz was invited to open the Cabo Frio International Dance Festival in Brazil. Her performance was received with standing ovations from the audience and from distinguished ballet artists including Cecília Kerche and Ana Botafogo, marking a meaningful moment in her artistic journey. Alongside her performing career, Beatriz is a Classical Ballet Teacher at Pofahl Studios, the official training school and resident academy of Dance Alive National Ballet, and also serves as part of the company’s social media and outreach team.
